Heritage Pulled BBQ Venison

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. venison roast
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/3 cup pure honey
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 2 T. coconut aminos
  • 2 T. liquid smoke
  • 1 bulb garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. sea salt
  • 3/4 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. organic mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Place all of the ingredients in a large crockpot. I usually put the vinegar and meat in first. Then I add the honey, tomato paste, and chopped onion on top of the meat. The rest of the ingredients I just pile on top too.
  • Set the crockpot on high for 4 hours. After 4 hours, use two forks to shred the venison, this may take a few minutes to get all the meat fibers separated. You can also shred the meat in two different increments, doing a rough pull-apart shred first and then going back later to finish shredding the larger chunks.
  • Stir together the shredded meat and all the ingredients. Let the shredded meat cook for another 30 minutes, then serve!
