It seems like such a long time ago that we brought this little puppy home. The months have flown by, with lots of memories and learning in between. This coming Sunday, December 6th, Rontu will be going off to ”Doggie Collage” at Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester Hills. Before he left we had to celebrate his first birthday!
Rontu wore his first birthday hat with pride.
Eventually he was ready for cake time.
Rontu was quite spoiled with a peanut butter banana cake. His favorite!
He could only eat half though, to much and we could have a sugar-high dog the rest of the evening!
Rontu’s doggie cake recipe:
1/2 cup of whole wheat flour
1 very ripe banana (mashed)
5 T. of peanut butter
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Pour batter into a well greased ramekin, or muffin tin. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean.
carob powder (not cocoa!)
Put the peanut butter on the top and outsides of the cake. Sprinkle the carob powder on using a tea sifter or spoon. Place the grated carrot on top. Let your dog enjoy!
